Four men charged with murder over death of Reece Cox in Sedgley

Four men have been charged with murder after a man was killed in a violent street attack outside a Black Country pub.

Reece Cox, aged 24, was killed outside the Clifton pub in Sedgley just before midnight on Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wayne Burke, aged 22, of Queens Street in Pensnett, 25-year-old Shane Jones, of Orchard Grove in Lower Gornal, 22-year-old Shaquel Halliday, of Shadwell Drive in Lower Gornal, and 19-year-old Adam Ashwin, of Monument Lane in Sedgley, have all been charged with murder.

All four have also been charged with violent disorder and actual bodily harm and have been remanded to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today.

A fifth man, Tyrone Halliday, has been charged with violent disorder and actual bodily harm. The 24-year-old, also of Shadwell Drive in Lower Gornal, has also been remanded to appear before the court today.

Detective Inspector Laura Harrison from our Homicide Unit, said: “I want to say thank you to the community in Sedgley who have really pulled together during this very difficult time.

"We really appreciate the positive response we have had from the community that has assisted with our investigation."

A tribute released on behalf of Mr Cox’s family earlier this week read: “Reece was a great son, partner and dad; a gentle giant who was loved by everybody."
