Kevin Hathaway, 37, is charged with one count of misconduct in public office in connection with a relationship he allegedly formed with a woman he had met during the course of his duties.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct's investigation began in August 2019 following a referral from the force and they submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to consider charges on completion of enquiries in March this year. The CPS made the decision to charge Mr Hathaway last month, at which time he was no longer serving with the force.

He is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday.
