Two injured in knife fight on West Bromwich street

A man and a teenage boy were injured in a knife fight on a Black Country street.

The fight broke out on Ashmole Road, near Harvills Hawthorn Primary School, in West Bromwich yesterday afternoon.

Police were called just before 6.40pm to reports of people fighting in the street armed with knives.

Both people involved fled the scene before officers arrived however a 15-year-old boy called an ambulance from Waterside Street and was later taken to hospital with an injury to his neck.

West Midlands Police said he ran away from the scene covered in blood and it’s likely that he sustained a slash or stab-type injury.

Ashmole Close was cordoned off last night and sniffer dogs were sent to the area to help look for evidence.

The cordon has now been lifted but officers are still in the area carrying out enquires.

It was one of two knife attacks in the Black Country on the same day, with a teenage girl stabbed in the head and neck in Walsall town centre.
