One officer was pushed down a flight of stairs and another was kicked amid a scuffle, after police attended two separate flats in Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton, at 1.30pm.

A 53-year-old man was detained on suspicion of assault and cultivating cannabis while three other men - aged 19, 29 and 62 - were also arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the officer who was pushed only suffered "bumps and bruises". The other officer was kicked while making an arrest.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that two people were treated at the scene after reportedly falling down stairs but neither needed hospital treatment.

The service was called by police 40 minutes after officers arrived, with one ambulance attending the scene.

Members of the public reported seeing blue flashing lights close to the junction with Albert Road and Paget Road.

The horde of plants were found growing across the two separate flats.

A police spokesman added that all the suspects remained in custody for questioning this evening.
