House hit in Birmingham drive-by shooting

Shots were fired at a home in a drive-by shooting in Birmingham.

Officers were called to Westminster Road, Handsworth, at about 7pm on Monday after shots were fired at a window from a dark blue or purple SUV.

Luckily no one was injured.

Specialist search teams were sent in to comb the area for any evidence that may help with their investigation.

A 41-year-old man was arrested after the incident on suspicion of obstructing an officer after trying to walk through a police cordon.

Residents looked on from their houses within the closed off area.

A forensics officer arrived to photograph the damaged property as officers conducted door-to-door enquiries.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after shots were fired from a dark blue or purple SUV towards a property on Westminster road, Handsworth, at 7pm yesterday.

“Fortunately no one was injured but a window on the property was damaged.

“A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of obstructing an officer after trying to walk through a police cordon. He remains in police custody today.
