Man stabbed to death at Birmingham city centre hotel
A 20-year-old man has been stabbed to death at a city centre hotel in Birmingham.
The man was found seriously injured at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Holliday Street at around 7.20pm on Tuesday evening.
The man was initially attacked in a room at the hotel but was found and treated by paramedics in a corridor.
He was taken to hospital with stab wounds but was later pronounced dead, West Midlands Police said.
A 19-year-old man was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and remained in police custody for questioning this afternoon.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said the parties involved are thought to be known to each other.
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the force's homicide unit, said: “A young man has tragically lost his life and our thoughts are with his family after receiving such shocking news.
"They have been fully updated with news of our arrest and are being supported by specialist officers.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7.22pm to reports of a stabbing in Crowne Plaza, Holliday Street, Birmingham. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene with the first crew arriving within two minutes of the 999 call being made.
"When ambulance staff arrived the found a man in cardiac arrest being given CPR by hotel staff. They quickly took over resuscitation efforts and continued emergency treatment on the man en route to hospital where, upon arrival, his condition was described as critical."
