Murder arrest after woman found dead in Birmingham flat

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in a flat in Birmingham.

Police were called to the flat in Warwick Road, Solihull, at about 3.20pm yesterday where the woman was found with fatal injuries to her neck.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remained in police custody for questioning on Monday morning.

Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from the West Midlands Police CID team, said: “A woman has sadly lost her life so we’re doing all we can to establish what happened to her.

“Our investigations are continuing and I’d urge anyone who may have any information to contact us as soon as possible."

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of a medical emergency at a property on Warwick Road, Solihull at 3.23pm yesterday.

"Two ambulances and two paramedic officers attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman.

"Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
