DPD driver arrested as van ends up near subway after roundabout crash
A delivery driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a van crashed through railings at a busy roundabout.
The DPD delivery van was left lying on its side after the crash on Albion Roundabout in West Bromwich, which saw the van go through railings and end up on the ground near the subway around 15ft (4.5m) below the road.
Paramedics, police and two fire crews attended the scene on Friday evening and the 26-year-old male driver was treated for shock and hand injuries after getting himself out of the van.
He was taken to Sandwell General Hospital treatment and then arrested on on suspicion of drink driving.
Crowds gathered at the scene next to the A41 Black Country New Road and Carter's Green, where the roundabout railings and van were seriously damaged.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called at 8.30pm to a road traffic collision, with two crews and 10 personnel from Tipton and West Bromwich fire attending.
"On arrival, found the incident involved a white DPD van which had gone through the railings and down to the subway area of the traffic island.
"The van had come to rest on its side and the driver had gotten out, so he was treated to shock and injuries to his hands.
"We righted the vehicle, which only contained parcels, and left it in charge of the recovery vehicle while cleaning up around the scene.
"We left the scene at 9.51pm and left the incident in charge of Sandwell Council to deal with the railings."
A spokesman for West Midlands Police added: "We’ve arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of drink driving after a delivery van crashed into the barriers on Albion Roundabout in West Bromwich, causing it to fall off the bridge, just before 8.30pm last night
"The driver was taken to hospital to be checked over for minor injuries, before being taken into police custody, where he remains this morning
