Three teenagers arrested after stabbings at Smethwick shopping centre

Three teenagers have been arrested after a double stabbing outside the same Smethwick shopping centre where a man was knifed to death less than two months ago.

The stabbings took place at West Cross Shopping Centre at around 12.15pm yesterday.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were stabbed, and a 14-year-old boy was also injured. The attack happened in the same car park off Oldbury Road where Karl Gallagher was murdered in April.

The 16 and 17 year olds have now been arrested on suspicion of affray, while a 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of wounding.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "Three teenagers have been arrested following stabbings at West Cross Shopping Centre, Smethwick, at around 12.15pm on Wednesday.

"The 17-year-old and 16-year-old boys, who were initially taken to hospital to be treated for stab wounds to their back and arm respectively, have now been arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in police custody today.

"A 14-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of wounding but remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"Enquiries continue and anyone with information or who was in the area at the time should get in contact."
