Dudley knife attack suspect detained under Mental Health Act

A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a double knife attack in Dudley has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

The 39-year-old suspect was arrested after two men were stabbed in Jews Lane, Upper Gornal. at 11.15pm on Saturday.

One man was stabbed in the street and a second man was stabbed inside a house.

One man suffered injuries to his hands, neck and shoulder; the second victim suffered knife wounds to his chest and arm.

The injures are not believed to be life threatening.

The knifeman escaped from the scene but officers arrested a suspect in Great Barr just before 7am on Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has since been detained under the Mental Health Act, police confirmed today.

The attack was one of a spate of recent knife attacks in the Black Country.
