Thirteen people from the Black Country have appeared in court charged in connection with an investigation into historical child sex offences.

All the offences are said to have happened in the West Midlands between 2008 and 2016.

The hearings at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday, were conducted in line with social distancing because of the number of defendants charged.

All were conditionally bailed by district judge David Robinson to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 13, when they are set to enter pleas.

Meanwhile, 13 more people charged in connection with the same West Midlands Police investigation are due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
