Teenager arrested over Halesowen machete attack
A teenager has been arrested after a knife and machete attack in the Black Country.
The 14-year-old boy has been detained in connection with an attack in Halesowen last Wednesday that left a boy injured.
Footage of the attack shared online showed the victim being approached by four youths in Victoria Street, three of whom had their faces covered.
One of the attackers appeared to stab the victim several times, one punched him and another attacked him with a large machete before running away.
An off-duty police officer came across the injured boy, whose age is not yet known, but his injuries were not thought to be serious and an ambulance was stood down before arriving at the scene.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "An off-duty police officer came across a male youth at around 3.45pm on June 17 who had suffered a small puncture wound to his thigh.
"It’s understood there was an altercation between him and a group in Victoria Street that ended with him being stabbed. The injury is not serious.
"Enquiries continue. Officers are examining CCTV. "
Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing on Victoria Street, Halesowen at 3.57pm on June 17.
"One ambulance and a paramedic officer were dispatched to the scene but they were stood down by police prior to their arrival as we were not required."
