Shane Mayer, from Wolverhampton, was stabbed in the leg during a fight on Forge Road, Darlaston, on July 24, 2019, and died from his injuries in hospital three days later.

Ramani Sanderson was arrested two days after the killing but later released without charge.

The 19-year-old was arrested again from his current address in Walsham Road near Peckham, London, at 4am on Wednesday and charged with murder.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday and Birmingham Crown Court today.

No plea was entered and Sanderson was remanded in custody until his next court appearance at a later date.

Three other men remain on police bail.

Mr Mayer's inquest heard he managed to run a short distance before collapsing and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where he died.

The cause of death was given as a stab wound to the groin.

The inquest, at Oldbury, was adjourned to allow police time to make further inquiries.
