The rubbish was spotted on Monday morning near the Marquis Drive Visitor Centre at the Chase.

Staffordshire County Council said the Chase rangers were already "under real pressure" due to the increased number of visitors after lockdown was eased.

Gill Heath, cabinet member for communities at Staffordshire County Council said: “It’s very frustrating and disappointing that people should do this at an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

"Our ranger service is under real pressure with high numbers of visitors following easing of lockdown combined with high fire risk across the site.

"This unnecessary activity takes resources away from other critical duties.

“Household Waste Recycling Centres are open, but if anyone sees anyone acting illegally like this we would ask them to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
