Sheep Rose and Florence were stolen from Brockswood Animal Sanctuary in Sedgley

Staff at Brockswood Animal Sanctuary in Sedgley came onto the site on Tuesday morning to find two turkeys and three sheep had been stolen overnight.

It is feared that they were taken for food.

The incident has been reported to West Midlands Police who are beginning investigations.

The missing animals from the Catholic Lane site include Trevor a slate grey turkey, Clarissa is a Norfolk black turkey, Rose, Florence and Minnie are all Soay type ewes; Rose and Florence both have curved horns and Mini has short stubby horns.

Brockswood posted an online appeal to Facebook yesterday for anyone with information to come forward.

Neil Swann, site manager, said: "We are really pushing it online as are our supporters, we really hope they are found before they are used for food.

"It has already been shared thousands of times by our supporters online.

"As soon as we posted it people were asking us to open a fundraising page so they could help us improve our security systems.

"Covid-19 has hit us hard and knocked a hole in our fundraising, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters who have kept us going during this."

Although the 16 acre site has CCTV installed it does not cover the whole of the farm and did not catch the intruders.

The online appeal is asking supporters or any security firms that can help to donate what they can or get in touch to prevent further incidents taking place in the future.
