Man, 43, charged after stolen car rams police - with VIDEO

A 43-year-old man has been charged with four motoring offences after a dramatic police chase in the Black Country.

A police car was rammed by a stolen Vauxhall Corsa in Bilston Road, Wolverhampton, during the pursuit early yesterday morning.

Two men were arrested after the stolen car was abandoned on Christopher Road, located less than a mile from Bilston Road.

Mohammed Khan, 43, of Great Hampton Street, Whitmore Reans, has has been charged with drink driving, failing to stop, aggravated vehicle taking and driving while disqualified.

The other man, 32, who was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, has been released with no further action.

The pursuit began after the men were spotted driving a stolen Vauxhall Corsa, on Bilston Road, at 4.20am yesterday.

The suspects rammed a police car, containing armed officers, before making off from the scene.

The Vauxhall Corsa was found abandoned on Christopher Road. However both men were found nearby and arrested thanks to the help from a police helicopter.

Khan has been remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The Vauxhall Corsa was spotted by officers and rammed into a police vehicle before making off.

"The car was abandoned in Christopher Road and two men were traced and detained nearby."
