Man allegedly behind 'I hope all NHS die' video appears in court

A man has appeared in court accused of phoning up a hospital and saying "I hope the staff die of coronavirus".

Matthew Wain, 31, is charged with sending menacing or offensive communications to staff at City Hospital in Birmingham.

He allegedly recorded himself making the phonecall and then posted a video of the call on YouTube title 'I hope all NHS die'.

Wain, of Heathfield Road, Lozells, was arrested from a flat in Perry Barr, Birmingham, on April 1 and was charged with sending menacing or offensive communications.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today wearing a mask and was given unconditional bail to appear at the same court on June 10.
