Boy, 14, arrested as double stabbing leaves 16-year-old critical

A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being stabbed in one of two serious knife attacks in the West Midlands on Sunday.

The boy is one of two teenagers who were stabbed in Solihull at around 2.40pm, around two hours before a 20-year-old man was murdered in Smethwick.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested over the Solihull incident which happened in Chapelhouse Road and ended with the two teenagers being taken to hospital.

The 16-year-old remained in a critical condition on Monday morning while the second victim, 19, was described as stable.

So far no arrests have been made over the Smethwick stabbing, which appears to have been caught on camera in a shocking video widely shared on social media.

The two stabbings are not believed to be related.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to reports that two people had been stabbed on Chapelhouse Road, in Solihull, at about 2.40pm on Sunday. Two people have been taken to hospital.

"A 16-year-old boy remains in a critical condition while a 19-year-old man is described as stable.

"A 14-year-old boy, was arrested nearby and taken into police custody for questioning.

"Enquiries are continuing and anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to contact us."
