Man arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after police chase

A man has been arrested after police spotted a car being driven dangerously in the Black Country.

West Midlands Police officers on patrols spotted the vehicle in the Stourbridge area at around 2.35am on Friday.

The car failed to stop and after a short police chase, the vehicle crashed into a bollard in Bewlay Close, off Brompton Drive.

The driver fled the vehicle, but was arrested by officers after a brief foot chase.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We arrested one man after patrols spotted a car being driven dangerously in the Stourbridge area at about 2.35am on Friday morning.

"The car failed to stop for officers and following a short pursuit it came to a halt when it hit a bollard in Bewlay Close.

"The driver ran from the scene but after a brief chase officers arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

"He has been released pending further enquiries."
