Arson attack destroys lorries at Wombourne transport firm

Two lorries and a trailer were set on fire in a suspected arson attack at a transport company in Wombourne.

Police are investigating the fire at Jet Express on Heath Mill Road which happened at around 11.30pm on Easter Monday.

Fire crews from Wombourne, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Kinver and Codsall were all sent to the scene where at least one of the HGVs was destroyed.

A spokesman from Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a fire at a business premises in Wombourne.

"Officers were called at 11.30pm on Monday night to a report of two HGVs and a trailer unit alight at Jet Express on Heath Mill Road.

"Colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze.

"The fire is being treated as suspected arson, and detectives are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious to call 101."

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: "Firefighters used four main jets and one hose-reel jet to extinguish the blaze which is believed to have been started deliberately."

Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 703 of April 13.
