Bloxwich motorcyclist, 18, died from head injury, inquest hears

A teenage motorcyclist died from a head injury after a crash with a car in Bloxwich, an inquest heard.

An inquest into the death of Luke Paddock, 18, was opened by senior coroner Zafar Siddique on Thursday.

Mr Paddock, of High Street, Bloxwich, was pronounced dead at the scene at the junction of Ingram Road and Valley Road after the crash on March 20 just before 9pm.

A pillion passenger on the KTM motorcycle, a 17-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.

A 37-year-old man, who was driving a grey Skoda Octavia, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.

He has since been releasing pending further investigation.

Mr Siddique opened the inquest and adjourned it until a date to be confirmed.

He said: "Mr Paddock was involved in a fatal road traffic collision at around 8.50pm on March 20 on Ingram Road in Bloxwich with its junction with Valley Road.

"A motorbike believed to be ridden by Mr Paddock, along with with a pillion passenger, crossed a give way on Valley Road into Ingram Road and a collision took place with an oncoming car.

"The car attempted to swerve to the right but both have collided and the bike then collided with a wall.

"Mr Paddock was confirmed dead at the scene.

"The car driver was then interviewed and an ongoing police investigation is taking place.

"The cause of death was a fatal head injury due to a road traffic injury."
