Police were called to Kinlet Avenue, in Northfield, at around 6.15pm yesterday.

A 41-year-old man had been stabbed several times while sat in a black BMW car parked on the road.

He was taken to hospital with several stab wounds to his arms, chest and legs – and he remains there today, in a serious, but stable condition.

Soon after the stabbing, shots were fired in the road. Fortunately, there were no injuries caused to anyone from the firearm being discharged.

A West Midlands Police investigation is now underway to trace the three offenders – two of whom may have left the scene in a silver car.

A large cordon remains in place today on Kinlet Avenue and Staple Lodge Road, while enquiries continue.

Sergeant Richard Foster, from the Force CID team, said: "I would ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area last night, to speak to us as soon as possible.

“I would also be keen to hear from anyone who has any dash cam footage which could have captured events either before or after the stabbing.

“CCTV and house-to-house enquiries continue today and we will be doing all we can to find those involved.”

Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting crime reference 20BW/61719D/20 or 20BW/61726Y/20.

Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
