Man stabbed in back and another slashed during Smethwick street 'disorder'

A man has been stabbed in the back and another slashed with a knife in Smethwick.

'Disorder' is reported to have broken out at around 7.30pm last night in the Stony Lane area.

A man, aged 21, was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his back, while another man, aged 31, was treated for a slash wound to his hand.

Both men's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.

West Midlands Police has launched an investigation and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "We are investigating after one man was stabbed and another suffered a slash wound to his hand, following a disorder with a group of men on Stony Lane in Smethwick, just before 7.30pm on Friday.

"A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his back, though his injury is not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening at this time.

"Another man, aged 31, was treated for an injury to his finger.

"Enquiries continue to trace the offenders and anyone with information is asked to contact us."
