Tettenhall road shut as firefighters called to car crash

A car set on fire after crashing into a parked vehicle in Tettenhall.

Emergency services were called to Aldersley Road at about 2pm today.

One patient was assessed by paramedics and left in the care of police as firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Police officers were also sent to the scene and Aldersley Road was closed between Lower Street and Horden Road.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We got a call at 2.03pm this afternoon to Aldersley Road in Tettenhall.

"The call was from the ambulance service. Crews from Tettenhall and Wolverhampton attended, 10 firefighters.

"The first engine got to the scene in under five minutes.

"The stop message came through at 2.27pm, it was a road traffic collision involving two vehicles, one that was stationary and parked up.

"There was a small fire in one vehicle. It was extinguished and the police were called."

West Midlands Police has been contacted for comment.
