Darlaston woman jailed for attacking police officers
A woman has been jailed after attacking two police officers while wanted on recall to prison.
Kiera Fowler, from Michael Street, punched and spat at officers after they were called to a house in Hall Street, Darlaston last Wednesday.
The 25-year-old was extremely agitated and making threats to harm people, West Midlands Police said.
When officers attended she became aggressive and abusive.
She punched and spat one in the face and kicked another in the leg.
Fowler pleaded guilty to assaulting the officers and was given two 12-week sentences to run concurrently with her recall for another offence at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court last Friday.
She was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to each officer.
Sgt Kate Tromans, from the Darlaston neighbourhood police team, said: “Fowler called us because she needed help. She was agitated and upset but there was no need for her to be violent towards the officers.
“The very nature of the job means we go into challenging situations knowing the risks we face. Despite this, we put ourselves on the front line to protect our communities from harm.
“Fortunately neither officer was seriously injured, but incidents like this highlight the dangers our brave officers face daily.”
