The suspects were detained on suspicion of assault on Wednesday after what was thought to be the latest of several violent incidents involving two rival groups in Caldmore.

Officers were called to reports of an assault in the area and two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of assault and are currently in custody. They have since been bailed with conditions, police said.

The victim was not seriously injured and officers are not certain where the attack happened, West Midlands Police said.

It comes after several 999 calls were made at around 5.45pm January 9 reporting trouble in Caldmore Green.

A car and takeaway restaurant were damaged but no injuries were reported.

Officers stopped a car nearby and arrested two men, aged 19 and 22, on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons, who have since been released pending further investigation.

The arrests came after baseball bats and crowbars were recovered from the vehicle.

And three people suffered minor injuries from broken glass after shots were fired into a takeaway on December 20.

Police have now said all incidents are linked to a fall-out between two groups and have set up an operation to tackle the issue.
