Man charged with arson after fire at Stafford guest house

A 41-year-old man has been charged with arson after a fire at a Stafford guest house.

About 20 firefighters were called to the property in Lichfield Road, Stafford, at 1.53am yesterday.

Peter Groucutt has this morning been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

The people inside the house were evacuated and no injuries were reported, Staffordshire Police said.

The fire started in a vacant room at the property before spreading to other areas of the house.

Police cordoned off the area to secure the scene while the fire service carried out their fire investigation.
