The men, aged 41 and 25, were detained on suspicion of burglary after the break-in on Mount Pleasant on Thursday.

Officers attended the scene at 3.17am and chased the men down with police dogs.

They were arrested and remained in custody for questioning on Thursday afternoon, West Midlands Police said.

Meanwhile two cars parked nearby were searched and the machete, thermal imaging equipment and a stash of Class B drugs were found.

It comes one month after police warned that gangs in Wolverhampton were using thermal imaging cameras to identify and raid homes hiding cannabis factories.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Our cops arrived in Mount Pleasant just minutes after receiving a call reporting men breaking into a property at 3.17am.

"Two men fled the scene but were pursued on foot by officers and our police dogs which led to them being detained."
