Inquest delay as investigation continues over Wolverhampton Road death

Police investigations are continuing after a grandmother died when she was involved in a collision with a motorbike in Oldbury.

Bernice Evans, 70, was crossing theA4123 Wolverhampton Road near Birchley Island along with two family members when the incident happened at about 8.35pm on April 10 last year.

The male motorcyclist suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The inquest was due to resume at the Black Country Coroners' Court yesterdaybut will now be held next month due to ongoing inquiries by West Midlands Police.

In a tribute following her death, her family said: "Our beautiful mother and grandmother was taken so suddenly and tragically and definitely too soon.

“It’s left a huge hole in our family but Bernice Evans will never be forgotten by her family and friends.

“It’s one of the hardest things we have had to go through as a family, but her memories will forever live on in our hearts.”
