Two arrested but two escape as Black Country police chase ends in crash

Two suspected thieves have been arrested after a police chase ended with a car crash in Dudley.

Police officers saw a stolen car with false plates which was linked to two distraction burglaries on Tuesday afternoon.

The car, a black Audi, crashed into another vehicle after failing to stop for officers and being chased to Station Road in Brockmoor, Brierley Hill, at around 2.30pm.

Four males fled the vehicle but only two were caught and arrested after a footchase.

Stolen property was also recovered from the vehicle.

The two men remained in custody last night as police continued their investigation.

In an alert on West Midlands Police’s WMNow, Dudley PC Jamie Follows said: "Officers from C unit and E unit response based at Brierley Hill police station have arrested two males on suspicion of burglary.

"Following reports of two distraction burglaries in Quarry Bank and Brierley Hill officers saw this car.

"The car which is stolen and on false plates failed to stop and was pursued to Station Road, Brockmoor.

"It collided with another vehicle and four males alighted the vehicle and ran.

"Following a foot chase two suspects have been arrested and suspected stolen property has been recovered from the vehicle.

"They remain in custody whilst the investigation continue."

A spokesman from West Midlands Police confirmed that two men, both aged 32, were arrested on suspicion of assault, burglary and in relation to theft of a motor vehicle.
