Rugeley man charged with £280k fraud

A Rugeley man has appeared in court today charged with eight counts of fraud totalling £280,000.

Sajid Mahmood, of Church Lane, Armitage, has been charged with fraud by false representation in Staffordshire and Walsall.

Five of the charges relate to fraud by false representation in Stafford where the 49-year-old is charged with falsely claiming cashback totalling £220,000 between April 2014 and March 2018.

He also faces two charges of fraud by false representation in Cannock (£56,400 between May 2016 and January 2017) and a further charge for the same offence in Walsall in 2013.

His co-accused, 39-year-old Ellen England, of Buckmaster Way, Rugeley, is charged with entering into or being concerned in the acquisition/retention/control or use of criminal property between April 2014 and March 2019 on behalf of Sajid Mahmood in Cannock.

They appeared before Cannock magistrates this morning and were given bail until their next appearance at Stafford Crown Court on February 3.
