Driver released amid probe after city cops injured fleeing car
A suspect arrested over injuring two police officers who dodged a fleeing car has been released pending further investigation.
The officers were sent flying as they bid to stop a car they suspected of being involved in a crash, West Midlands Police said.
The grey BMW 320i M Sport left the scene after the crash in Birmingham city centre on New Year's Day.
Police patrolling Broad Street at 4.30am were alerted to the car following a crash in Gas Street.
But the car swerved through traffic cones and sent two officers flying as he made off.
A 22-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two police constables, dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He was in custody on New Year's Day but has since been released amid the ongoing enquiry.
