Appeal after sexual assault on train to Birmingham

Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a train travelling to Birmingham have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

On December 2, at around 5.45pm, the man boarded the train at Banbury station and assaulted a 16-year-old boy.

The man then followed the victim off the train at Birmingham New Street and into the city centre – attempting to engage him in conversation.

A spokesman from British Transport Police said: "The victim managed to flag down nearby officers and the man quickly ran off.

"Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help their investigation. If you recognise him or witnessed the incident please contact British Transport Police."
