Man in court over Dudley alleyway attack
A man has appeared in court today after a serious assault in a Dudley alleyway which left a man in serious condition in hospital.
A man, believed to be in his 40s, was found with head injuries in the alleyway off High Street at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.
He remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in the attack and he has now been charged with wounding.
Tomasz Dzieciol, of no fixed address, appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on January 16.
He entered no plea during the hearing.
West Midlands Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after the attack – and have called for anyone who is yet to contact them to come forward.
Police cordoned off Rutland Passage, near Lloyds Bank and The Full Moon pub, at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.
Officers remained at the scene overnight as an investigation got under way.
Rutland Passage leads from the high street to King Street.
Sergeant Chris Jones, from West Midlands Police's force CID, said: "This a significant step forward in our investigation but we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information which can assist with our ongoing enquiries."
