Investigation under way into fatal collision in Wolverhampton
An investigation is under way after a man died in a collision in Wolverhampton.
The 63-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead after being hit by a car in Evans Street, Whitmore Reans.
Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 10pm on Saturday night, but were unable to save him.
A silver Mercedes, believed to have been involved, was found nearby.
A 48-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remained in police custody yesterday.
Now an appeal has been launched by West Midlands Police for witnesses and any dash-cam footage.
Sgt Dean Caswell, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are in the very early stages of our enquiries and our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this tragic time.
"I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have seen or heard anything, to get in touch as soon as possible."
