Man, 26, charged with murder of man, 39, after Perry Barr street robbery

A 26-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 39-year-old man in Perry Barr.

Mark Lloyd, the victim, died after a street robbery in Aldridge Road, at around 11.10pm on September 21.

Sean Sweeney, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of Mr Lloyd, who is from Kingstanding.

Sweeney, who was previously remanded in custody accused of robbery, is set to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on October 15.

Shannon Cronin, aged 23, from Clyde Street, in Cradley Heath, has also been charged with murder. She is set to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on November 4.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Jim Church from force CID, said: “This was initially treated as a robbery but tragically became a murder enquiry as Mr Lloyd died from his injuries.

“I continue to appeal for anyone who saw what happened to call us as they may have important information."
