Neighbours record burglars breaking into Cannock shop
Neighbours came to the rescue of a shop owner, ringing the police and capturing video footage of burglars stealing £2,000 worth of items in Cannock.
The group smashed a window of Speedway Motorcycles in Cannock Road at about 10.15pm on Monday, and made off with four rare children's electric scooters, 16 helmets, jackets and gloves.
Owner Matt Plested said 10 bikes were damaged by the burglars breaking into the shop.
He said: "The CCTV has picked up everything that has happened.
"I left about 5.30pm and later the alarm alerted us, they smashed their way in through a window.
"The police turned up about 60 seconds after they had left.
"It's really bizarre what they took, we saw one of them going through a clothes rack and looking for his size in a jacket.
"They stole about £2,000 worth of items and probable caused about £3,000 to £4,000 in damage. About 10 of the bikes were damaged as they smashed their way in, one has been written off.
"One of the neighbours heard what was happening and called the police and started recording it on their phone.
"It has been eight years since this last happened."
Police have said they believe four males were involved driving a red Audi and a Nissan.
Officers said they would like to thank residents for their quick response when reporting the burglary.
