Police write message to machete robbers on windscreen of stolen car

An officer wrote the words onto the vehicle's dirty windscreen, which read: "Please contact West Midlands Police re the cannabis and stolen car in the garage."

It is believed robbers armed with machetes used the red car to ram a unit in Upper Chapel Street, Tividale, on Sunday, before ditching the vehicle along with a 2kg stash of cannabis.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police received a 999 call at 2.10pm on Sunday from a member of the public reporting a vehicle reversing into shutters at a business unit in Upper Chapel Street, Tividale.

"Two men wearing face coverings are understood to have entered the premises before making off in another car.

"The car used to ram the shutters was seized by police and around 2kg of cannabis later discovered at the unit.

"A suspected stolen Land Rover was also recovered by police from the unit.

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace the men and the unit owner. Anyone with information is asked to contact WMP on 101 or via Live Chat at WMP Online quoting crime ref 20SW/230800W/19."
