Police have increased patrols in the town centre and are conducting stop and searches as part of Operation Sceptre, a national week of police activity aimed at reducing knife crime and the number of families affected by it.

Officers conducted stop and searches using knife wands outside McDonald's in Park Street on Tuesday and then outside McDonald's in Wisemore, KFC in Park Street and the Saddler Centre.

Also, a video of convicted killer who stabbed a man to death at the age of 15 is being shown to pupils across the Black Country and Birmingham as part of the national week-long campaign.
