Man charged in connection with attempted robbery at Co-op
A man has been charged after a substance was thrown at two people during an attempted robbery at a Co-op in Birmingham.
Workers tried to challenge people who were allegedly trying to steal from the West Heath Road store on September 4 when they were sprayed with a non-corrosive liquid.
Neither was seriously injured.
David Woodcock, 38 and of no fixed address, was arrested by officers in Sunbury Avenue, Bilston on Sunday afternoon.
He was charged with theft from a shop, possession of an offensive weapon and assault.
He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday to face the charges and was remanded in prison to reappear at Birmingham Crown Court on October 10.
