The hazardous substance was allegedly thrown through the window of a van at the men in Wollaston Road, Amblecote, on Sunday.

The men, who were waiting in traffic near to the traffic lights on Audnam Road and Brettell Lane, drove off to escape but crashed nearby due to their injuries.

They were both taken to hospital for burn injuries and were later discharged.

A 34-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Lee Bailey, from force CID, said: “The incident happened near to Tesco Express and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.

“This was a shocking attack and we want to reassure the public we are doing all we can as our investigation continues."
