Shane Mayer, 21, died on Saturday in hospital after being stabbed during a fight outside Gabba's Bar, the old Herbert's Park Tavern, on Wednesday.

Now a fundraising page has been set up for the Darlaston man by friend Daniel Morris, which has raised more than £2,300 in less than 24 hours.

Mr Morris said: "He was my brother's best friend and worked with him sometimes as a gardener.

"He was friendly, happy, he would do anything for anyone, this is why we're all so shocked.

"There are a lot of lads who cause trouble but he was never rude to anyone.

"It's obviously been really tough for his friends and family.

"He has a lot of friends, it's the same for everyone."

Mr Morris has set the fundraising goal for £5,000 and said he hopes it will help pay for Mr Mayer's funeral costs.

He added: "We wanted to raise some money towards his funeral to make sure he has a good send off."

And two men arrested on suspicion of murder after the brawl have been released.

West Midlands Police confirmed two 18-year-old suspects have now been released amid investigations into the fatality.

West Midlands Police spokesman Craig Hughes said: "The two men have been released and investigations are continuing. There is no further update."

Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield, from the force's homicide team, urged anyone who was in the Forge Road or Wolverhampton Street area on Wednesday evening to get in touch.

Two other men arrested in relation to the attack were previously released by police.
