Police and paramedics were called to Wolverhampton Street at around 11.15pm yesterday

'Really scary'

A woman, who lives nearby and wished to remain anonymous, said: “These things happen all the time, people breaking into our home, and now this.

“It’s not safe here, I’m worried for my children, it’s not a safe area.

“I’ve lived here nine years, the police do a good job but they could do more.

“It’s really scary, I can’t sleep at night.”

A large police presence remained in Wolverhampton Street, Darlaston, following the stab attack

Another resident, who also wished to stay anonymous, said: “It’s horrible to hear what’s happened, it’s scary.

“I have been here for five years, it’s normally alright, but it’s deteriorating.

“It’s frightening for the younger generation with all this going on.”

Wolverhampton Street has been closed since 11.15pm on Wednesday following the stabbing

As forensics scoured the scene, patches of blood could be seen along Forge Road, towards Wolverhampton Street, where a blue forensic tent was placed.

Both ends of Forge Road were cordoned off, as well as a stretch of Wolverhampton Street up to the junction for Stafford Road, where Wolverhampton Street turns into Darlaston Lane.

Police officers guarded the cordon throughout the day as detectives and forensics investigated.
