14 arrests made in south Staffordshire in one day

A total of 14 people have been arrested in Staffordshire today as part of a new police operation.

Drugs and cash have also been seized as part of Operation Disrupt, which has seen a new police team formed from local officers, special constables and specialist staff from across Staffordshire Police force to target prolific offenders.

Today’s operation focused on addresses across the south of the county, including Trysull, Wombourne, Featherstone and Heath Hayes, alongside a traffic operation in the Penkridge area.

Officers made a total of 14 arrests, including detaining a 31-year-old man from Walsall suspected of committing burglaries in Gnosall and Penkridge.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at an address in Hazel Grove, Wombourne, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Phones, cash and cannabis were seized. Cannabis was also confiscated at another address in Hazel Grove.

A large amount of cash was seized at an address in Longlands, Wombourne, following the arrest of a 32-year-old woman in Wolverhampton on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Further arrests were made following car stops and searches, including the arrest of a 29-year-old man for being concerned in the supply of class A and class B drugs.

A 33-year-old from Perton and a 29-year-old from Wolverhampton were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Chief Inspector Mark Ward, of South Staffordshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “It’s been an extremely busy and productive day with drugs and cash seized and 14 arrested so far.

“Officers have done a great job, working together with colleagues from National Crime Agency, to arrest a number of suspects and the operation is still ongoing.”
