Jail for man found with flick knife who refused to get off bus
A 40-year-old father of 10 has been jailed for six months after taking a flick knife with him on a bus ride.
Daniel Reid was so drunk he refused to get off the vehicle when it reached the end of its journey at Stourbridge bus station on May 14, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
"Police were called and when officers arrived at the scene they patted him down and discovered the black flick knife in a trouser pocket," said Mr Hugh O'Brien Quinn, prosecuting.
The defendant, who has 10 previous convictions involving 21 separate offences, had been diagnosed as schizophrenic, revealed Mr Anthony Cartin, defending.
Mr Cartin added: "He has suffered issues with substance abuse and the current one involves alcohol.
"He is also taking medication for depression and might benefit from having some support in the community."
Reid from High Street, Brierley Hill, admitted possession of an offensive weapon and was locked up by Judge Rhone Campbell who told him: "You had a flick knife with a four-inch blade while in an inebriated state.
"You have health issues but you also have two previous convictions for possession of offensive weapons."
