The 31-year-old was kicked in the head as he lay injured on the floor by an unknown man, close to Palfrey Infant School in Bescot Street, police said today.

Police cordoned off the scene at the time but did not provide any details as to how the man received his injuries.

Now West Midlands Police has revealed details of what they believe happened during the incident and said the victim is still unable to speak to officers to give their account of the attack.

He remains in a serious condition in hospital after being found injured in Bescot Street at around 5.25pm on June 22.
