Wolverhampton businessman denied bail as CPS seeks retrial over wife's murder
A Wolverhampton businessman has been denied bail after the Crown Prosecution Service revealed it will seek to retrial him for the murder of his wife.
A jury failed to reach a verdict over whether Gurpreet Singh, aged 44, killed his wife Sarbjit Kaur, 38, last year at their family home in Rookery Lane, Penn.
Last week, Singh was unanimously acquitted for offering to pay a would-be hit-man £20,000 to kill his previous wife Amandeep Kaur in 2013.
After the jury was dismissed David Mason QC told the judge that the Crown will seek a trial.
A bail application for Singh was heard at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday but was refused, meaning Singh was remanded in custody.
