In Willenhall, on May 26 offenders have forced open a back door to get into a house. And in Darlaston on May 28 a thief was caught on CCTV using a wheelie bin to climb onto a flat roof to get into the rear garden.

He has then removed the bottom panel in a uPVC door to enter the house. In both cases quantities of jewellery and cash were stolen.

West Midlands Police are investigating both crimes.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are aware that the Asian wedding season is approaching and therefore jewellery is more likely to be kept at home.

"Prevent burglars getting their hands on your jewellery by taking a few simple steps, such as taking the time to check that all doors and windows are secured at night, in particular those on the ground, fit a good burglar alarm and don’t leave your gold and jewellery insecure, if possible keep it in a floor or wall safe."
