Police investigations are continuing after a man, aged 27, and woman, 49, were found at a house on Hill Street around 10.30am yesterday.

The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained by Staffordshire Police.

A police spokesman said their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Forensic investigators remain at the house today and officers are continuing patrols to reassure the local community.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Hannan, senior investigating officer for Staffordshire Police, said: "We would like to thank the local community for their patience as we work to find out the causes of death.

"We will do all we can to minimise disruption to those in the area.

"Officers will remain at the house over the weekend as investigations continue and I would ask that if anyone has information that may help us with this enquiry, to call 101 quoting incident number 196 of 16 May."

There was a large police presence at the scene yesterday with forensic teams combing the area.

Neighbourhood officers have stepped up patrols to reassure the local community.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man and woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"On arrival, crews discovered two patients, a man and a woman," the spokesman said.

"Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save either of them."
