Girl, 10, grabbed by man in 'attempted park abduction'
A 10-year-old girl was grabbed by a man in a Wolverhampton park in what police are treating as an attempted abduction.
The youngster was approached in Wednesfield Park just after 3.30pm yesterday by a man who asked her if she wanted to see his dog.
The schoolgirl declined and was then grabbed by the straps of her bag, before she managed to run off and alert her parents. She was uninjured.
The suspect is described as a white man of slim build who was wearing a blue zip-up top and jogging bottoms.
Officers are now appealing for potential witnesses to get in contact.
Sergeant Neil Western, from West Midlands Police CID, said: “I am asking for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area to speak to us, if they have not already done so.
“We have stepped up neighbourhood patrols in the area and we are working with local schools to ensure pupils are safe.
“If you can help in any way, please speak to us.”
